REMEMBER THE 14 YOUNG PEOPLE WHO DIED IN THE NEW CROSS FIRE

30 years ago this happened. It should have been a national tragedy. But because the young people who died were Black it was downplayed by the press. Doesn't this echo the handling of the Stephen Lawrence case? A fascinating look at Black British history.

The Reaction -  15,000 plus Black people marched through London in protest of how the murder of a communities children can be dismissed my the authorities. Can you imagine this being allowed to happen now?

  1. I researched the radical history of Lewisham for some workshops we were running with Goldsmith's fine art students last year - it's amazing round deptford way, especially for mobilisations of black people around anti-racist struggle... Check out the "Battle of Lewisham" in 1977... http://lewisham77.blogspot.com/
